My hair is coarse. Inherently I have no problem with it, I find that it holds style better. To prevent breakage however, being able to soften it up some is key. I find Fantasia Hair Polishers helpful for that. http://www.fantasiahaircare.com/HairPolisher.html
I will also sometimes use pure Shea butter. Thought ti can leave a very heavy coating on hair and is often better used for conditioning.
